Where the Present and Future Jobs Are by Occupation: Introduction
These are the jobs with the most potential for hiring’s and with the least potential for layoffs.
It should be noted that even though a particular occupation may have a high employment potential; it doesn’t necessarily mean that you want to live that life for the next several years. You want to select something that you enjoy; if for no other reason than because you will be competing with those who do.
Of course, means-to-an-end is also applicable; especially if you are going to school and targeting advancement in a specific career; or as a necessary interim job while you continue looking for the job you really want.
