Time use on an average weekday for full-time university and college students

On an average weekday, full-time university and college students spent 3.4 hours engaged in educational activities, 3.0 hours working, 8.4 hours sleeping, and spent 3.6 hours in leisure and sports activities. (These data are averages for 2006 to 2010).

This chart is from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. As a former college student of many decades ago, this chart appears totally wrong to me! How can educational activities be only 3.4 hours a day? Doesn't student class attendance alone exceed that?  And then there is study time and doing homework. Something is wrong.

Either:

A. I don't understand this chart.

B. The Bureau of Labor Statistics has totally messed up their research.

C. Our educational system has truly gone to blazes.

D. I am obsolete and don't understand how things are done these days.
